Embedding cassettes are disposable plastic containers that hold tissue specimens during the embedding process and in a storage file. They are made from a variety of materials, including high density polymer, acetal polymer, and acetyl polymer. These materials are resistant to the chemical action of histological solvents, such as alcohol and xylene. The cassettes also keep specimens submerged in liquid.
